DemoSelect’s Role
DemoSelect determines how and why personal information is processed for its marketplace, accounts, enquiries, dealer administration and platform security, and therefore acts as a responsible party for those activities. A supplying dealer or requested finance, insurance or related provider may separately act as a responsible party for its own processing. Production publication must identify DemoSelect’s registered operating entity and Information Officer.

The Eight Conditions for Lawful Processing
DemoSelect’s privacy programme is structured around POPIA’s eight conditions.
Processing Limitation
Process information lawfully, reasonably and without unjustifiably infringing privacy; collect information that is adequate, relevant and not excessive.
Purpose Specification
Collect for a specific, explicitly defined and lawful purpose and avoid keeping records longer than necessary.
Further Processing Limitation
Use information again only where the new use is compatible with the original purpose or otherwise lawfully permitted.
Information Quality
Take reasonably practicable steps to keep personal information complete, accurate, not misleading and updated where necessary.
Openness
Be transparent about collection, purposes, recipients, rights and responsible-party details.
Security Safeguards
Protect information with appropriate technical and organisational measures and respond to security compromises as required.
Data-Subject Participation
Support lawful access, correction, deletion, objection and related participation rights.

How the Conditions Apply to Your Journey
Browse and compare
General marketplace browsing should not require more personal information than necessary. Essential technical data may be processed for secure operation.
Ask for a quote or reserve interest
Your contact details, chosen vehicle, message and selected services are recorded with consent so DemoSelect can qualify and route the request.
Dealer allocation
Buyer information becomes available to the appropriate supplying dealer only after the consent-led qualification and allocation stage.
Finance or additional services
Only information relevant to a service you request should be processed. A registered provider performs its own assessment and supplies its own privacy terms.
Transaction and delivery
Quotations, acceptance records, documents and milestones are retained under controlled access for the transaction, audit and applicable legal purposes.
Special care
Sensitive Information, Children & Direct Marketing
Additional protections apply in higher-risk circumstances.
- Do not submit special personal information unless DemoSelect specifically requests it through an approved secure process and has a lawful basis.
- DemoSelect’s vehicle marketplace is intended for adults. Information about children should not be submitted through ordinary enquiry forms.
- Electronic direct marketing requires the appropriate consent or other permission under POPIA, and every message must provide a practical opt-out.
- Automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects should not be made without the safeguards required by POPIA.
